The Old Mount Gambier Gaol was opened as a gaol in 1866 and closed as a functioning prison in 1995.
Recently refurbished, The Old Mount Gambier Gaol provides boutique accommodation, with cell and non cell rooms for all travellers, and is popular with backpackers, couples, families and groups both large and small.
The gaol premises boasts two large open courtyards, sports bar, conference facilities and grassed paddock area, ideal for functions and events, ranging from intimate gatherings to grand scale weddings.
Guests have access to many historical features of the gaol, along with four styles of dormitories available - three beds, four beds, six beds and a ten bed dormitory which can sleep a total of 45 people.
